Contractors can win more bids with the right strategies of bidding. We have shared secrets for residential and commercial bids.
A growing trend in the construction of commercial buildings, particularly warehouses and big-box stores, is the use of tilt-up concrete walls. This building method is gaining in popularity because of its efficiency, flexibility, and speed of construction as well as the endless variety of tilt-up panel shapes, colors, and decorative features available. Decorative precast concrete is also used to enhance the exteriors of commercial buildings and is often found in architectural elements such as columns, wall panels, lintels, and window sills.
With Estimate Florida Consulting you can determine everything from aggregate to how many yards of concrete should be on the next truck. You will quickly and accurately quantify material for any foundation or flatwork.

Factors that Affect the Cost of Concrete
-
Material Costs
Costs of materials and supplies and the associated shipping charges influence the cost of any concrete construction project.
-
Labor Rates
The local labor rates or wages specified by the state affect the expenditure of a project.
-
Schedule
If the project schedule is too short for the type of work involved, then project costs tend to be on the higher side. This is especially true for projects with a significant liquidated damage clause in their contracts.
-
Site Condition
The location and the prior site condition affect the cost of the project and concrete. Poor soil quality, wetlands, contamination, utility, environmental and traffic issues are few examples in this category.
-
Contingency
A 10% contingency fund of the total expenditure is generally set aside by cement contractors to cover unforeseen costs. However, inflation and scarcity of materials and supplies might require a higher contingency of the range of 15-20%.
Concrete Epoxy Crack Repair Tips
- Start with a low-pressure injection setting and increase the pressure as needed.
- Larger cracks require more epoxy injection pressure.
- Remove the top seal using a chisel or scraper. You can also use a heat gun to remove the epoxy paste.
- When filling wide cracks, wait some time, not a lot, ensuring that the epoxy is filling the concrete crack.
- Watch out for epoxy backflow as that could be a result of debris blocking the epoxy flow or perhaps the crack is not continuous.
- If there is a leak in the top seal, use a crayon to seal the small leaking area. This is only recommended when it is a small leaking area.
- When the crack is too wide, the injection method might not work. Verify before proceeding that the crack is manageable and can be fixed using the crack kit.
- On narrow cracks apply a bead of caulk on the side of the concrete crack at least 1/8" from the edge of the crack. This creates an area that can be used to put the epoxy minimizing the waste.
Concrete Pool Costs by Type
Above-ground concrete pools cost between $18,000 and $84,000, while in-ground ones are $27,000 to $94,000. Choosing between the two is primarily a matter of style choice for the homeowner. However, one significant benefit of an above-ground model is that it costs less than an in-ground model to install and maintain. They are also easier to install than in-ground options as they don’t require excavation or lengthy installation. Unfortunately, above-ground models don’t add as much value to your home as in-ground ones.
Type | Cost Prefab (Installed) | Cost Custom (Installed) |
---|---|---|
Above-Ground | $18,000 – $32,000 | $30,000 – $84,000 |
In-Ground | $27,000 – $54,000 | $52,000 – $94,000 |
Concrete Pool Cost per Square Foot
The average cost for a concrete pool ranges from $79.20 to $185 per sq.ft. for a prefab model, while custom models cost $105.50 to $332.50 per sq.ft., depending on various factors. Size is the main factor that affects the exact project cost. They are mostly custom-made, as they allow the pool to be made in any shape or size. Precast concrete models are also an option, but they are limited in size and shape, so they are not frequently installed. The most common sizes homeowners opt for are between 300 and 500 sq.ft. Those that want a larger model can opt for a unit as big as 1,500 sq.ft.
