Warren BOE approves money for new building
VINCENT – The Warren Local School District Board of Education Monday approved a $210,000 proposal for initial design services on a new administrative building on the Warrior Drive Campus.
The estimated total cost for the project is $2,101,250, which includes $1.6 million for construction, $300,000 for site preparation, $150,000 for furnishing, and a contingency fee of $51,250.
The proposed building, spanning approximately 6,400 square feet, will house offices for various district staff including the superintendent, treasurer, curriculum director, special programs coordinator, accounts payable, food services, the education management information system coordinator, and the student-family engagement team.
Superintendent Kyle Newton noted, “We’re just beginning the design phase. This project is expected to progress swiftly.”
Fanning Howey, a Columbus-based architecture firm, is set to design the building and create the construction plans. The planned location for the new building is adjacent to building two, behind building six.

Newton anticipates the project will go to bid within 90 days, with construction starting in August and a completion target of March or April 2025.
Treasurer Melcie Wells clarified that the funds for this new administration building are separate from the school levy renewal funds appearing on Tuesday’s ballot, which are allocated for the district’s operational expenses.
Newton also highlighted the advantage of the new building in enhancing his accessibility to the faculty and staff. He expressed a preference for in-person interactions over phone calls, citing the inconvenience of his current office being a mile away from the school.
